Description
Contains seven documentaries: "The battle of Midway" is a U.S. Navy-sponsored documentary about one of the most famous modern naval battles, fought in the Pacific during World War II. The celebrated director John Ford presents the battle as it happened with little, if any, post-production elements added other than narration. "Report from the Aleutians" is a John Huston film about the soldiers assigned to the Aleutian Islands in the North Pacific, the most remote outpost of World War II. "The Memphis Belle" is William Wyler's look at a legendary American air force crew. "Eyewitness to war" takes a look at the men and women who reported back from the battlefield. "The fighting lady" is an examination of the brave Navy troops who fought in the war. "The 6th marines at Okinawa" is about the troops who made the first landing on the Japanese island of Okinawa. And, finally, "The last bomb" was shot at the end of the war as the last airborn American fighters flew over Japan.
