Around the year 1000 B.C., an advanced civilization existed in the Andes Mountains long before the start of the Incan Empire. Chavin de Huantar is one of the ruins of this civilization. The city of Cuzco is a place where Incan Civilization and Spanish culture converge. In the mountains to the Northwest of Cuzco is Machu Picchu, a city which escaped Spanish occupation.
