Drawing on virtually all extant sources, Mr. Holcomb has compiled a list of some 6,500 marriages which bear reference to approximately 15,000 persons. Since official South Carolina marriage records are extremely scarce, Mr. Holcomb labored valiantly to extract records of marriage from parish registers, as well as Quaker meeting records, marriage settlements, court records.
