The Wheeler Reservoir was begun by the United States Corps of Engineers in the early thirtys and was later taken over by the Tennessee Valley Authorities as part of the TVA system. Originally there were 63 cemeteries surveyed to remove any of the graves that fell below the designated water level. In time, TVA surveyed more cemeteries in the area within Madison, Marshall, Limestone, Morgan, Lauderdale and Lawrence counties in Alabama. The information...

Construction of the Guntersville Dam near Guntersville, Alabama affected cemeteries in Marshall and Jackson counties. The enclosed records are taken from the field books of the surveyors for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) when preparations were being made to construct the dam. Includes plat maps of each cemetery showing every grave that was possible to locate.
